Hoy, 29 de Agosto de 2009, Michael Jackson pasaría en edad la mitad de un siglo, 51 años que cumpliría si siguiera con nosotros, físicamente claro, porque su legado es lo mejor que una gran persona puede regalarnos.

The Jacksons

Debido al próximo cese de contrato y la no renovación con Motown en Marzo de 1976, el 28 de Mayo de 1975 firman con CBS/Epic Records quienes le dan más libertad artística. Tras ésto, se ven obligados a cambiar el nombre del grupo, ya que pertenece a Motown, por The Jacksons.

No será la única modificación; Jermaine, se queda en Motown (se ha casado con la hija de Berry Gordon, fundador de Motown) y grabará algunos discos en solitario; su puesto es ocupado por el pequeño Randy.

El 16 de Junio de 1976, la CBS estrena una serie sobre los Jackson 5 titulada "The Jacksons".

The Jacksons grabarán un total de 7 álbumes con Epic.

THE JACKSONS

El primer álbum con CBS, lleva el mismo nombre que el grupo y sale a la luz en Octubre de 1976 . Los 2 temas del que consta el primer single ("Enjoy yourself"/"Style of life") están compuestos por Michael y Tito.

TRIUMPH

En 1980 The Jackson editan el video del mismo nombre. En septiembre del mismo año se lanza el álbum, por supuesto ya con plena libertad por parte del grupo.

En primavera de 1981, aparece el video promocional "The Triumph" escrito y producido por Michael (con efectos especial poco comunes para la época) que acompaña al single "Can you feel it"

Primer álbum de The Jacksons en 5 años editado el 23 de Mayo de 1989. El primer single cuenta con la colaboración de toda la familia Jackson.

Debido a los malos resultados del LP, el contrato con Epic, que ha vencido, no es renovado.

Jackson 5

Junto con 4 de sus hermanos (Tito, Jackie, Marlon y Jermaine) forman los Jackson 5, primero grabando algunos singles ("Big Boy" o "You don´t have to be over 21 to fall in love") para el pequeño sello discográfico Steeltown en 1968 (actualmente existe el álbum "Boys & Girls" con los singles de esta época).

Ese mismo año, pasan a la discográfica Motown con la que sacan su primer álbum "Diana Ross presents The Jackson 5" el 18 de Diciembre de 1969.
